Helix caps

For rectified wall tiles and ceramic floor tiles in dry indoor areas, 1 to 2 mm is often chosen to achieve a clean, modern joint appearance.

In living spaces, bathrooms and kitchens, both wall and floor, 2 to 3 mm is the most universal choice, as it provides sufficient tolerance for size variations, substrate movement and moisture exposure.

For natural stone, large-format tiles, underfloor heating, high-traffic areas and outdoor applications, 3 to 5 mm clips are recommended to properly accommodate expansion, contraction and load stress.

Step 1: Determine the size of your tile (length × width in cm).

Step 2: Locate this size in the table on the left: the X-axis represents one side of the tile and the Y-axis the other side. At the intersection of both measurements, you will find the number of clips per m².

Step 3: Multiply this value by the total number of square metres you will be tiling. The result is the total number of clips required.

Tip: It is recommended to add an extra 5–10% as a safety margin for cutting waste and spares.

For small projects (fewer than 250 clips) where the entire surface is tiled in one go, it is recommended to provide as many caps as clips. This ensures smooth and uninterrupted installation.

For larger projects (more than 250 clips), a smaller number of caps is sufficient, as they are removed after the adhesive has cured and are reusable. In this case, around 20–30% of the total number of clips is generally enough.

Step 1: Slide the clip(s) under the tile and tap the tile. Place the next tile after you have applied the clips.

Step 2: Using your hand, screw the helix cap onto the clip that was slid under the tile and tighten it all the way to level the tile.

Step 3: Leave the cap on for 24 hours after fixing and once the tile adhesive has hardened, the clip and cap can be easily removed with a rubber mallet or your foot. TIP: Always break in the direction of the joint)

Step 4: Unscrew the cap from the spacer clips, they can be reused.
