Step 1: Place an X spacer at each crossing of four tiles to maintain a consistent joint width.

Step 2: Press the tiles down gently so the spacer fits firmly between the tile edges and keeps the tiles perfectly aligned.

Step 3: Leave the X spacers in the joints. They remain in the tiling as permanent spacers.
