What are tile leveling wedges?

Tile wedges are a handy tool for aligning and leveling tiles during installation. With these wedges you create a tight and even surface, without height differences between the tiles. They are ideal for both floor and wall tiles and are used in combination with a spacer clip and leveling pliers. Thanks to the simple application, your tiling work becomes easier.

How do tile leveling wedges work?

We are happy to list the steps for using wedges for you:

  • Step 1: Always have enough adhesive and place the first tile. Make sure the first tile is completely level.

  • Step 2: Slide the clip(s) under the tile and tap the tile. Place the next tile after you have applied the clips. Place this tile on top of the clip base.

  • Step 3: Slide the wedge through the opening of the clip. Use the leveling pliers to push the wedge through the clip with enough force until the tile is level. TIP: Do not remove the wedge yet.

  • Step 4: Leave the wedge in place for 24 hours after fixing and once the tile adhesive has hardened, the clip and wedge can be easily removed with a rubber mallet or your foot. TIP: Always break in the direction of the joint.

  • Step 5: Remove the wedges from the clips, they can be reused.

What types of tile leveling wedges are there?

At Nivello we offer 3 different types of wedges.

  • The professional tile wedges from Levelit for frequent use. These high-quality wedges are made of a special type of plastic which makes them durable, ideal for the professional tiler. Suitable for both smaller and large format tiles.

  • In addition to the Levelit wedges, Nivello also offers the Tiling Buddy wedges. These are smaller and finer in size, ideal for smaller tiles. Due to their thin shape, these wedges can be used without leveling pliers.

  • Finally, nivello also offers the Prospacer wedges. The perfect solution when you are looking for a more affordable product. Great for limited use.
